Joining us on Sundays
What to expect at Mount Elim
We’d be delighted to see you at any of our services. We have a morning service 10.30am and another service at 6pm. Our services include singing, praying, reading the Bible and teaching from the Bible. You are free to join in with as much as you feel comfortable, or to simply observe.
Where do we meet?
Our church building is on Brecon Road, Pontardawe, SA8 4PD.
Children!
Children are welcome in our services. We consider ourselves a family and don’t mind if it gets a little noisy. Our 10:30am service has a creche and we regularly have children of all ages in and around our Sunday services.
If you’d like to find out more about children’s groups in advance, please contact us at [email protected]
Any other questions?
If you have never been to church before we appreciate that it can be difficult to know what to expect, so if you have any questions at all no matter how silly you think they might be, please contact us and we will be happy to help!
How long will it last?
The Sunday services last for about 1 hour and 15 minutes and there’s some time before and after to chat to people.
What happens during the Sunday gathering?
We begin our meetings with prayer, then we sing together, read passages from the Bible and someone shares a talk with us.
I won’t know anyone, how do I get to know people?
We are a really friendly church, everyone will be happy to speak. There will be someone on the door to greet you and help you find a seat.
Do I need to believe in God to come to church?
No. There’s no requirement to believe in anything to come and lots of people come to our church who are still exploring faith for the first time. Sundays are a place to experience what being a Christian is like and you can join in with as much as you feel comfortable.
What is the dress code?
There is no dress code for church, most people come to church in casual clothes but come in whatever you feel most comfortable wearing.
Do I have to pay to come to church?
Coming to church is completely free. The cost of running our church is covered by members of the congregation who give regularly.
What songs do you sing?
We love to sing at Mount Elim! We sing a broad range of songs at our Sunday and Wednesday meetings. The words for the songs are projected onto the wall at the front of the church; we have standard and large print books if you need them too.
